New Way To Weed Vinyl

I used to shy away from the pretty glitter and patterned vinyl because i always ripped my design when i was weeding it.

Use gentle pressure to work gradually across your design from a corner. What makes vinyl even more easy to weed is what siser calls the heat press trick. If you ve weeded off quite a large chunk just chop that weeded vinyl off with a pair of scissors this helps keep it from getting in the way as you weed the rest of your project. Lay it on the weeding area with the sticky side up and use spring clamps to hold the vinyl down.

This makes it so you can weed away the excess without losing the proper alignment of the vinyl. The letters you need will come up with the vinyl all in one piece. Use a piece of vinyl for scraps. Some people prefer to add a weeding box around their image when they cut.

Of course if you have a heat press that will work as well. This makes it really easy to pull away any excess vinyl. You can use an iron to heat up your ironing board or a towel and weed right on the area that s heated. For heat transfer vinyl heat loosens the backing making the vinyl pieces so much easier to remove.

Heat up your lower heat press platen for 2 3 seconds set at around 300 f. Weeding means to remove any of the vinyl that you don t want including any insides of the letters. Use a piece of adhesive vinyl for scraps i will often take a piece of adhesive vinyl or double sided tape and place it sticky side up on or next to my cricut mat. Place your htv on the warmed lower platen and the warmth will loosen up the adhesive on the pressure sensitive backing.

Those vinyls are gorgeous but it is impossible to see the cut lines. Lay a corner of the vinyl gently on your receiving surface and smooth the design into position. Using the cricut brightpad is by far the easiest way to weed vinyl that s either super sticky or hard to see like glitter vinyls or holographic vinyl. After the design is cut it is time to weed the vinyl.
